GEOSCIENCE : THE MICROTREMOR SURVAY

On Thursday, April 23^rd 2015, my friend and I had a simple survey about Seismic Refraction or also known as Microtremor. The Field survey placed on three different locations. Locations selected based on the survay’s design which has made one month ago.

What is Microtremor?
Microtremor is a low amplitude (in the order of micrometres) ambient vibration of the ground caused by man-made. Observation of microtremors can give useful information on dynamic properties of the site such as predominant period and amplitude. Microtremor observations are easy to perform, inexpensive and can be applied to places with low seismicity

What we need ?

GPS with antenna (the white things closest in front of Camera) ,

Digitizer (the yellow box; you’ll see several indicator lightsfrom the frontview),

SPS (Short Periode Seismograph)

Power Supply ( we used Solar Cell – not shown in this picture)

Cable (as connector)

PC/laptop

Compass.

How Long it last ?
The survey last only in a day. Start from 11:30 am till 06:00 pm. It took 6 hours and more for three different locations.

Where are the Locations ?

Yes, we had three different locations. Sorry, i didn't write the coordinate.

North-Serpong Subdistrict (near BSD-Bumi Serpong Damai ; 10:30 am – 11:30 am )

Pamulang Subdistrict (near the University of Pamulang ; 03:00 pm – 04:00 pm )

Ciputat Subdistric. ( 05:00 pm – 06:00 pm )

Those all  subdistrics were  part of The City of Tangerang, Banten Regency.

That’s all we had on Microseismic survey. Seismic data processing would be done next days.
